Pollution Prevention and Resource Recycling

Commitment to a Recycling-Oriented Society

As a member of society, the Moriroku Group recognizes that global environmental issues represent a major challenge that may have serious implications for future generations.
With the aim of achieving harmony with the global environment, the Group is working to reduce its environmental impact. At the same time, through education and messages from top management, we strive to raise environmental awareness among all employees and encourage active participation in environmental conservation activities within local communities.

  • Promote development and sales of environmentally friendly chemical products that are recycling-oriented
  • Reduction of environmentally hazardous substances
  • Global expansion of material recycling by Implementing 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
  • Reduction of industrial waste

Monitoring of Resource Usage Efficiency In order to make effective use of finite resources, the

Plastic waste processing ratios

In order to make effective use of finite resources, the Moriroku Group promotes resource recycling and works to reduce the burden on the environment through its recycling of plastic waste generated in the production process. In FY2024, the Production Division recovered around 834 tons of plastic waste. Of these 834 tons, around 79% underwent material recycling, roughly 18% underwent thermal recycling, and about 2% was processed as industrial waste. We will continue efforts to raise our material recycling ratio, design materials that facilitate reuse, and reduce the use of virgin resources to enhance resource efficiency.

Aiming for Environmentally Friendly Factories

in-house power generation system

Gas cogeneration system introduced at Kanto Plant

In 2016, Kanto Plant consolidated two existing facilities to create a more efficient and resilient operation. To further enhance our emergency preparedness, we have implemented an in-house power generation system. Our objective of installing this system was to identify a more environmentally friendly energy source, and we chose to adopt a cogeneration system using city gas.

With this system, power is generated at the plant using gas transported by pipeline from the plant. In comparison to conventional systems that purchase electricity generated at power plants, this system has minimal transmission loss and can also utilize waste heat generated in the plant as energy. The Kanto Plant utilizes the heat generated to produce hot water and steam.

This system boasts an impressive overall power efficiency of 80%, a significant improvement over the previous system's 40%. Its contribution to the reduction of peak power for the entire plant is noteworthy. The 2018 results demonstrate a reduction in the annual peak power swing to one-third that of other plants. We are committed to identifying and implementing environmentally friendly production methods.

Collaboration with External Partners

Recycling of Used Clear File Folders

The Moriroku Group is promoting the effective use of resources and the reduction of waste in order to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. As part of these efforts, we implemented the collection and recycling of used clear file folders generated in our offices.

In this initiative, we collaborated with ASKUL Corporation, which operates a free collection program for clear file folders, and provided used clear files that were no longer needed in our offices. The collected clear file folders are processed through a material recycling process and converted into recycled pellets, which are then used to produce new stationery products. Through this process, a recycling rate of 98% has been achieved, contributing to waste reduction and the reduction of CO₂ emissions.

Promoting resource circulation requires cooperation across the entire industry. The Moriroku Group will continue to strengthen collaboration with partner companies and industry associations and advance initiatives aimed at achieving the sustainable use of resources.
