Tokushima Community Forestry Project

The Moriroku Group's "Forest Growing Declaration“

We promote the concept of "forestation" in Tokushima, the place where our company was founded, with the objective of ensuring the transfer of natural resources to future generations.

Moriroku Holdings Company, Ltd. is pleased to announce its participation in the Tokushima Collaborative Forestation Project, a Tokushima Prefecture-sponsored initiative that will engage the company in environmental conservation activities in Tokushima, the company's hometown.

The Tokushima Prefecture and the Tokushima Forest Growing Promotion Organization (TFPO) are engaged in a joint initiative to enhance the forest ecosystem in alignment with the goal of achieving a decarbonized society. Our group has endorsed the overarching philosophy of this project and has collectively formulated the "SDGs Forest Growing Declaration."

The Group has expressed its support for this project and has adopted a "Declaration of SDGs Forestation," aligning itself with the project's principles.

The Company was founded in 1663 in Awa province (present-day Tokushima prefecture) and has been in business for 361 years. It is a group of companies specialising in chemicals. The company began with the trade of indigo, the raw material for indigo dyeing, and dried sardines, the fertilizer for the indigo.

By protecting and nurturing the forests of Tokushima Prefecture, we will develop new strategies to combat climate change and achieve the goals of the SDGs, with the long-term goal of becoming a company that lasts for 400 years.

We are pleased to announce that participation in this project will be made possible through a donation to Tokushima Prefecture (Tokushima Forestry Promotion Organization). The donation will be allocated for the "ESG Share Buyback," as outlined in the news release dated November 28, 2023.

By leveraging this scheme, our objective is to achieve two key goals: firstly, to repurchase shares with the intention of returning profits to our shareholders, and secondly, to contribute funds with the aim of returning profits to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance).
